Math Sciences Entrance Requirements Check List

for students from other PSU campuses

This check list is designed specifically for students from other campuses of the Penn State system who plan to transfer to the Mathematical Sciences program at Penn State Harrisburg.

A minimum of 60 credit hours with a 2.0 cummulative grade point average are required which are distributed as follows.

NOTE: Math Sciences students who plan to select the Secondary Education Mathematics option must also take 3 credits of college-level English Literature. See note in the Humanities section below.

		NOTE: Students with the Secondary Education option must have 3 credits of college level English Literature with a least a C grade. This can be accomplished by selecting a course from the following list, which can be used at the same time to satisfy 3 credits of Humanities (GH). Note that some of these courses also satisfy the US and IL requirements. General Electives (6 credits)	6 credits of any non-remedial courses accepted.

Additional requirements	First-Year Seminar, 1 credit of any course with a S, T, X, or PSU designations. United States Cultures and International Cultures Requirements, 3 credits of any course with a US designation and 3 credits of any course with an IL designation. These can be satisfied simultaneously with any of the above requirements, or any course in the degree requirements. Writing Across the Curriculum requirement is satisfied by MATH 311W or MASC 475W, a required course in the MASC degree program. If you spend the first two years at Penn State Harrisburg, you also need to take SSET 295 (1 credit).
